Welcome to my collection of images from America's National Parks. Some years ago, I made it my lifelong goal to visit every national park. Over time, that goal has evolved and expanded. My plan now is to not only visit each park, but come away with a least one image that captures some aspect of that park. This doesn't mean I will always go for the iconic, obvious image. I look for a composition that goes beyond the postcard shot, but still tells a little piece of the story. Of course, when the iconic is the best image, I will take it and run.
This gallery contains one image from one hundred and three national parks, monuments, historic sites, memorials, and lakeshores/seashores. There are approximately 394, and I have been to about 150. Over time, I will be adding new images as I visit new parks, or go back to parks I have visited before, but don't have an image that meets my needs. Let me know what you think. I always appreciate feedback.
Eleanor Roosevelt's office in her home in Hyde Park, NY. I like the simplicity of the name plate on her desk. As for the photograph, the light was very low, and I couldn't use flash, so I switched to a very high ISO. The resulting image was rather noisy, so I decided to use it instead of fighting it. Notice the nameplate with her name misspelled.
